Guided tour with workshop
By artist Anne Desmet and curator Mireille Linck
From 20 November 2025 to 15 March 2026, Escher in The Palace will be exhibiting the marvellous work of printmaker Anne Desmet. From an early age, she has been fascinated by themes such as transformation and architecture. Her work explores shifting perspectives and architectural forms, echoing the qualities we see in the work of M.C. Escher. Like Escher, she is a master of graphic techniques, from lino and litho to woodcut and wood engraving. The work of a printmaker is truly a craft and requires utmost concentration, mastery of the material and a steady hand.
Would you like to understand how the mesmerizing prints of Anne Desmet and Escher are made? Then come to this workshop at Escher in The Palace on Saturday 22 November.
It is a first and a unique opportunity at Escher in The Palace: the creation of a wood engraving. Working on a block of wood with razor-sharp tools is something very special. Escher in The Palace is proud to announce that none other than Anne Desmet herself will be giving this workshop! As the icing on the cake, you will also be given a guided tour of the Anne Desmet exhibition by curator Mireille Linck prior to the workshop.
Anne likes to give her full attention to the workshop participants, which is why the number of places is limited. So grab this opportunity and book this wood engraving workshop and guided tour.
