Accessibility

Escher in The Palace is a listed building, which means we have limited facilities for disabled visitors. Accessing the Palace involves using several steps. Escher in The Palace has a wheelchair ramp for wheelchair users. This is kept at the front desk. All rooms in the Palace are threshold-free and a small lift is available for use (84 cm deep, 103 cm wide, max. capacity 250 kg). Wheelchairs can be borrowed from the desk. We regret that we do not have a disabled toilet. Unfortunately, we are not accessible to electric wheelchairs. We do have manual wheelchairs which can be borrowed from the front desk.

Photography

You may take photos without a flash in the Palace. Use of a stand/tripod or selfie stick is not permitted. Escher's work is protected by copyright belonging to the M.C. Escher Company and may not be used for commercial purposes without permission. For further information on copyright on M.C. Escher’s work, please see the website www.mcescher.com

Cloakroom and bag policy

Umbrellas and bags exceeding A4 size cannot be taken into the rooms. You are welcome to leave these in our free lockers during your visit. The lockers are located in the basement. Escher in The Palace cannot accept any responsibility for loss of or damage to goods stored by locker users. We have only limited capacity to store suitcases, trolleys and other luggage. Please ask at the desk for current capacity. One alternative is The Hague Central Station, where there are luggage lockers. Unfortunately we do not have any space for pushchairs, folding bikes and other large objects in our cloakroom. Instructions provided by staff must be followed at all times.

Eating and drinking

Unfortunately, Escher in the Palace no longer has a museum café. The museum is developing the location into a new venue for education, meetings and inspiring public programmes. However, there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the vicinity of the Palace.

Pets

No pets allowed. Guide dogs are, of course, welcome.

Lost property

Please call us if you believe you have lost something in the Palace.
